A Look Into OmegaWoW's Future

September 12, 2019, 1:21 am

As OmegaWoW prepares to enter its final phase of progression with Icecrown Citadel releasing on September 28, we are ready to share our plans for the future with the world. Aside from a new TBC realm launching in autumn, we plan on continuing our journey into WOTLK with Seasonal Realms.

Seasonal Realms will be high-rate, fast-progression realms (with a turnaround of roughly six months) where players will compete for unique rewards (each season) that will transfer to each subsequent season. For Season I, we will be making a 1:1 copy of every character on our current realm (Decades). Then, we will reset quest progress, level, items and realm firsts. Other achievements, pets and mounts will not be touched. They will keep rolling over into each new season.

We plan to launch this new realm early next year, so there is a lot of time left to refine this new project and bring it up to the highest possible standards, as well as line up with our players’ desires. If you are interested in joining the discussion, head over to our Discord and let us know of any ideas you may have in the #seasons channel.

We are also re-opening transfers on September 16, ahead of Icecrown Citadel’s release! We have done a few minor changes to how transfers work, and will have the new guide up when they are re-enabled. Here is the jist of it: Validation of transfers will now be printscreen-based, to speed up the entire process. This will be handled through DMs as before. Also, we are removing the requirement of signing up for the 7PM or 5AM transfer time slot. We will take a more organic approach through a new Discord channel (#transfer-log), where we will post our transfer validation availability in advance (“I will be doing transfers on X date, X time for 2 hours”, “I am now doing transfers. Please DM me if you’re in the queue!”).

To sum up:

  • September 16: Transfers are re-opened
  • September 21: Patch 3.3, The Frozen Halls
  • September 28: Icecrown Citadel
  • Mid-Autumn: TBC Realm
  • Early next year: WOTLK Season I

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on Discord! We hope you are as excited as we are for the future!

OmegaWoW: Call of the Crusade!

July 12, 2019, 8:01 am

Less than a week is left before first stage of patch 3.2 - Call of the Crusade launch. Here I'd like to share with you more details about upcoming patch.

In the first stage (17.07.2019 18:00 Server Time) we will release Trial of the Champion dungeon as well as Onyxia's Lair raid. Beshides that Ulduar will be set to it's 3.3.5 state (post-nerf), to allow players to catch up on content.

We will also upload miscellaneous updates to Argent Tournament and professions (such as prospecting Titanium and the addition of Epic Gems).
And there's one more thing that will happen then. We will allow character transfers from other servers. Week before ToC launch is the best time to join our server. You'll have enough time to catch up on items. Of course we won't allow players to bring their whole characters. We will give them a token that allow them to boost one character to lvl 80 and get basic gear for their class and specialization so they'll be able to go on raids or battlegrounds/arenas. This won't be the best gear so there will be no favoriting new players.

Ending of Furious Gladiator season is scheduled at 16.07, 23:00 Realm Time after the additional arena flush. We will backup all rankings and the Season Summary will be posted after looking trough the data. This is a long process so it may take up to one week.
What will be reset: Honor, Arena Points, Wintergrasp Mark of Honor, Stone Keeper's Shards, Commendation of Bravery,Wintergrasp Commendation.

In the second stage (24.07.2019 18:00 Server Time) we will release Trial of the Crusader raid.
Vault of Archavon will be reset on 24.07.2019 and closed to 18:00 due to implementing the new boss - Koralon the Flame Watcher.

Other changes in 3.2:
Argent Tournament:
- NPC Dame Evniki Kapsalis added.
- Crusader daily quests for players with <Crusader> title will be available.
- Sunreavers (Horde) / Silver Covenant (Alliance) daily quests added (check requirements).
- Black Knight's chain added 2 quests.

- Knight Dameron and Stone Guard Mukar will sell 232iLvl legs for 40x Wintergrasp Mark of Honor and rings and wrists (226 iLvl) for 15x Wintergrasp Mark of Honor.

- Titanium Ore - beshides the standard drop, it has 75% chance to drop Titanium Powder and 3.3% chance of epic gem drop.
- All epic gems added to Icy Prism loot table with 1.17% drop chance.
- Captain O'Neal and Lady Palanseer are going to sell epic gems, 10000 Honor Points each. Rare gems will get removed.
- Magistrix Lambriesse, Arcanist Ivrenne, Harold Winston are going to sell epic gems for Emblems of Heroism.
- Cardinal Ruby quest is going to be available.
- Transmute: Titanium will have 8h cooldown.
- Alchemy trainers will teach you how to transmute epic gems.

Summer 2019: Transfers, TBC, Double XP and more!

June 26, 2019, 5:15 pm

Hey guys, we’ve got quite a bit of things to share with you today:

We’ve been working on a TBC server for a long time, and feel confident enough at this point that we’d like to show it to you across some beta tests, with the first one starting on next Friday.

We will also be introducing the Mercenary Market, where you can buy/sell characters with other players on our server. There will be limitations on what you can sell, such as only being able to sell characters up to level 79, or level 80 characters with less than 12 hours of played time on level 80.

We would also like to announce that we will be having double XP until the release of 3.2, which is happening in July, starting with Friday this week! More details on the release schedule soon.

In the next seven days, we will also be releasing the following:

The anti-ninja system, which is 95% ready to go.

Two-factor authentication, to better protect your account and delete the few remaining bots that are still trying and failing to get work done.

Server transfers (more on that soon, including restrictions on what people can bring here and whatnot)

Guild Transfers & May PvP Update

May 16, 2019, 7:46 pm

OmegaWoW is now open for guild transfers! We've been receiving requests for quite a while, and have been figuring out a way to enable them while keeping things as fair as possible to our current community.

There are two options for transferring:

Guilds between 10 and 19 players can request to join, and upon providing a list of account names, will receive 14 days of double XP to speed things up, allowing them to get back to the endgame and enjoy our pre-nerfed Ulduar.

Guilds of 20 players and over will receive 14 days of double XP, as well as enough Guild Transfer Points to buy shoulder, chest, weapon and trinket heirlooms. If any of you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us through a PM to this account, on Discord, Facebook or on our forum.

The process will be handled as follows: The guild leader contacts us, providing a list of newly-created account names by their guildmates. We will set the accounts up with the XP Boosts, and heirloom currency where applicable. That's it! The cost of spells is already reduced by 33%, so levelling on a higher rate won't be a problem for the experienced player. Dual Talent Specialization is also free for Alliance players, in an effort to keep the factions as balanced as possible.

Part of our ongoing effort to make PvP feel more appealing and rewarding than WOTLK traditionally does, we are implementing a new set of account-bound currencies that reward players for participating, and winning, in PvP settings.

Sigils of War can be earned by winning Battlegrounds, and can be redeemed for Season 1 TBC weapons to be used for transmogrification.

Sigils of Domination can be earned by winning arena matches, with 3v3 rewarding three per win, and can be redeemed for Season 2 TBC weapons, for the purpose of transmogrification.

Additionally, we are making the Tier 3 set pieces (no longer obtainable in-game) purchasable with Sigils of Vanquishing, which will drop off bosses in WOTLK dungeons.

The Celestial Steed, until now missing from our shop, will be purchasable only with Sigils of the Titans, a mysterious currency whose whereabouts are yet unknown.

We have further improvements in the pipeline, and we hope those changes will give those less interested in PvP an opportunity to get something they feel has a use for them!

Kind regards,

Originally Pre-Nerf Ulduar Release

April 27, 2019, 5:28 pm

Ulduar is opening in 30 minutes!

Rally your comrades and head to the Storm Peaks, but beware of its pre-nerf difficulty

If you have time, you might want to check if your faction controls Wintergrasp, for Emalon has also emerged from the shadows!

Ulduar - PTR April 3-6

March 31, 2019, 7:07 pm

Join us for an extended PTR test for Ulduar any time between April 3rd and 6th!

The PTR will be open to anyone who wants to give things a try. All you need to do is create an account (or just switch to the "Developers" realm if you already have one), and create a character.

For the purpose of testing, characters will be instantly level 80 and there will be a shop to get some appropriate gear.

We hope to see you there!

The Creation of Transmogrification launches!

February 21, 2019, 8:25 am

We will have a server restart today morning to implement fetishes throughout the world. Fetishes are simply a currency. I'm not telling you where they're dropping from.

You can get the Fetish of Nightmares from 9 sources.
You can get the Fetish of Destruction from 9 different sources.

Every fetish in every person's inventory will count towards the total displayed on the website.

Once you start discovering sources for Fetishes, I will begin updating the Community Challenge log on the website with your findings.

The counter will be updated once a day.

A couple hints to help you start (Remember, the challenge starts tomorrow):
- Hunt your fetish in groups.
- There is no second hint.

Happy hunting!

In other other news, our Staff applications are still open! You can read through them here, and apply if you are interested in any of the positions: Click here.

OmegaWoW Review - Hamsterwheel

February 20, 2019, 12:34 am

Hamsterwheel has been playing on our server since its launch, and has conjured up a review!

We are very thankful for his kind words, and will continue our commitment to bringing the best Wrath of the Lich King experience on the scene.

Arena Season 5 has begun.

February 1, 2019, 9:33 pm

The Obsidian Sanctum and the Vault if Archavon have been opened. Arena Season 5 has begun.

OmegaWoW is now in full killing, looting, and pillaging season! Control Wintergrasp to access the Vault, create an arena team to smite foes and friends alike, and go in and out of The Obsidian Sanctum as you please!

Arena teams start at a base 1000 rating, to help the venue be more active. We also have a little something extra planned, but more details on that later.

We also want to let you all know we have reverted the change to the gold drop rate from 2x to 1x, due to some unforeseen complications. While we address the issue, we have instead reduced the price of all class spells by 33%.

Thanks for sticking with us, and I hope you are all as excited as we are for this content drop, and for buffed Naxxramas, coming next week!

Happy hunting!

In-Depth: The Omega System

January 18, 2019, 2:00 pm

Hey guys!

Today I'd like to showcase one of our new features coming with the launch of OmegaWoW: The Omega System.

The Omega System will be replacing the antiquated voting system, complete with its own shop. We looked at the voting system and came to the conclusion its effectiveness in 2019 is not enough to keep it around; people would rather check social media for finding out the right server for them instead of a weird website full of banners.

With that in mind, we wanted to keep the reward system of the shop, but needed to figure out a way to acquire the points. So, we looked inwards, to the game itself. Without further ado, here's how you'll acquire Omega Points:

1 point - Every 3 hours of played time

1 point - First dungeon of the day

3 points - End boss of the most current raid

2 points - First battleground win of the day

2 points - Fifth arena win of the day

Those numbers can be changed in the future, but for now, this'll be the only way on launch (and for a while after) to attain points.

We'll have the shop up & running this coming week, so you can start planning what you want to gather points for first!

Kind regards,

The OmegaWoW Staff

Open Doors Evening #2 - January 12th

January 9, 2019, 11:21 pm

Hey guys!

We're preparing to hold our second beta. Unlike the first one, this time we're opening the server up to everyone!

All you need to do to join is create an account. At the end of the beta, we will only be wiping characters, so whatever account you create now, you get to keep!

This beta we're trying to focus on any and all content that'll be available at launch. That includes everything from Vanilla, TBC, and WOTLK's patch 3.0. We are interested in knowing how well dungeons - as well as some of the more scripted and phasing-heavy quests - work. There will be a feedback form at the end of the beta for you to condense your thoughts about the quality of content.

Our full website will be released, available and open for creating accounts by Thursday. We hope to see you there, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,

The OmegaWoW Staff.
